Staycation at the Waldorf Astoria
I love a good staycation (you know me) and I was SOOOO excited to stay at the NEW Waldorf Astoria in our very own backyard. Many of you know the Waldorf, previouslyThe Mandarin Oriental is next to none. This undeserving staycation was the ultimate dream. From tea time to room service and onto their every so fancy Sunday Brunch - I would say we did the most and the least at the same damn time. Thank you Heather McMahan.
TEA TIME
Honestly, the sound of going to afternoon tea doesn’t really do it for me. BUT LET ME TELL YOU I have been converted to TEA TIME GAL. I will now only drink tea in this exact setting. As many of you know I do NOT drink coffee, so this tea girl is super excited! Talk about a selection… I went with the Organic Health & Wellness Green and my s/o went with the Osmanthus Oolong (very zen of him). When they start bringing out the sandwich towers it’g game over. However, the scones with clotted cream, butter and fruits = my everything. WOULD DO AGAIN.
You can enjoy your tea in the Café & Bar or be fancy and dine al fresco on the terrace that looks over the tranquil Private Gardens. Take your pick ;) The tea is perfect for a girl’s day, birthday treat, or if you really want to impress your mom (Maureen would be pleased with me for once)! Oh and she would also love that their is a complimentary glass of BUBBLES included with your reservation.
*The Afternoon Tea takes place on Thursdays to Saturdays from 2pm-4pm. Don’t forget to book 24 hours in advance.
After tea time we proceeded to roll ourselves to our room…. THAT IS WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS. You all know I am talking about…..ROOM SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROOM SERVICE
Ahh, room service. The two words I love most in life. And you better believe we did it BIG. The Waldorf’s room service made me feel like Eloise living her best life, enjoying scrumptious delicacies all while in my robe …
They have a breakfast menu, all day menu and late-night menu (our fave). I recommend the Pizza Margherita (le duh) and the french fries (because ALWAYS). The best part? Kid’s Mac n’ Cheese - I can’t apologize for that….
BRUNCHIN’
Let’s talk about something we all love. BRUNCH. The Sunday Brunch Buffet brunch was anything but basic. We consumed so many plates of complete awesomeness - yup, everything and waaaay too many mimosas, so let’s just say it was a party. Brunch was on another level (and that’s coming from the brunch queen). It’s a Southern-Inspired Brunch and included every egg concoction you could imagine, Belgian waffles with LOTS of toppings, and a ton of pastries, muffins and bread, Southern specialities, seafood, etc. Basically, whatever your heart wants, they have it.
The first seating starts at 10:45am, and the second at 1:15pm, so plan ahead :)
Thank you to the Waldorf Astoria for an incredible weekend! We will be back ASAP!
