Weekend Getaway in Savannah
Oh Savannah, we have to say, romance looks GOOD on you our dear. You have truly monopolized what it means to have southern hospitality AND southern charm at the same time with your cobble stone streets, boutique hotels, rich history, and AMAZING FOOD. We just had to take a little pre-Valentine’s Day weekend getaway to experience you all to ourselves.

S T A Y
For our trip, we stayed at the one, the only, where you will never feel lonely, The DeSoto. Located in the historic district, right beside Madison Square, and just a short, sweet walk from River Street. The interior, the restaurants, the lobby, ALL A DREAM. Let’s just say yes they DO IT BETTER in the south south. The DeSoto not only exceeded ALL of our expectations but they made us not want to go home ever again. Check out some of the details from our little getaway below and some of our other favorite Savannah hot spots!
E A T
Lucky for us, The DeSoto has not one, not two, but THREE restaurants located within the premises of the hotel making it hard for us to even think about leaving. No worries though, our bottomless pit of stomachs made us explore the streets in search of all things food, good, we mean good.
1540 Room
1540 Room is like the kitchen inside of a home. It is the heartbeat of the hotel that brings everyone to one place. Food has always had that effect on us, what can we say? They prides themselves on being locally sourced, and rightfully so. The dishes are an immersive experience, representative of the Savannah culture, with cocktails and delectable desserts to match. A place worthy of many, many second plates.
Edgar’s Proof & Provisions
Also located inside the DeSoto, Edgar’s Proof & Provisions is not to be missed, known for their extensive whisky list you might just find something you have never tasted before. As many of you know I am a FRENCH 75 LOVER, and boy do they make a mean one. Cocktails aren’t your thing? Indulge in many of their light bites and take in the hustle and bustle on their outdoor patio facing historical Savannah.
E X P L O R E
Probably one of our favorite parts of the trip was the Private 3 hour walking tour that The DeSoto set up for us with Derek Edward Llamas! You can book your own tour at www.southerngracetours.com. Derek studied historic preservation and architectural history at SCAD learning to recognize the origins, nature, and language of our historical built environment and gaining first-hand experience working with the tangible resources that connect us with our past. We could honestly listen to him talk all day and unlike many of the tours we have done in Savannah, we felt like we actually retained some valuable information! HIGHLY recommend Derek’s tour and will definitely book another one when we go back!
Two Cracked Eggs Cafe
Sorry, not sorry, we brunch so hard. Y’ALL, talk about some southern soul. Two Cracked Eggs Cafe serves their thick-cut bacon on a CLOTHESLINE! A CLOTHESLINE! Name one place you have had brunch at where they hang bacon out just for the pickin’. AND DON’T even thinking about cutting carbs - order that biscuit and compare it to the size of your head 9/10 x it will be much BIGGER.
