National Tequila Day Spicy Watermelon Margarita Recipe
Why hello, National Tequila Day, we meet again. If you didn’t already know Tequila has been trending for some time now and unfortunately, Vodka is on the outs. Since the end of March aka the beginning of lock down… I have been trying to master the perfect skinny marg recipe. It usually consists of a few simple ingredients (tequila, lime, orange and Cointreau) easy peasy. I also fancy a salted rim. My tequila preference is of course Casamigos, but if taking shots I prefer Clase Azul Reposado. Recently our friends brought us a bottle as a house warming gift and I am sad to say we went through it in under a week. I mean if that doesn’t tell you what kind of month we’re having… then I’m not sure what does.
When it comes to cocktails I would say I’m a purist, but when I saw all of the ladies on Instagram making Spicy Watermelon Margaritas I started to have a little fomo. My sassy lil Cuban sista, Sophia, gave me this recipe and her cocktails always punch. CC: the bachelorette trip we went on the week before coronavirus took over the world. This recipe requires no agave, which I love! I love using a fresh orange to give it that little AYEEE.
The Perfect Spicy Watermelon Margarita
1 oz Casamigos
2oz Watermelon Juice (I got mine from Kale Me Crazy here in Atlanta)
1oz freshly squeezed orange juice
1oz Cointreau (if you want to get extra turnt)
1 freshly squeezed lime
1 jalapeño sliced
I serve my margaritas in this Casamigos Bee Cut Margarita Glass. It sparkles and makes me feel a little fancy. Plus it is dishwasher safe. Hand washing is my ultimate demise.
